Field Trip Info. and More

Our visit to the gravel pit is on October 28th. We will be spending the morning there collecting and studying rocks with a naturalist. The weather is supposed to be in the 40-degree range, so please make sure your child dresses in layers! Shoes with holes (such as Crocs) are not recommended.

Also, our Fall Harvest Event will be held on Friday, October 31st from 2:00-3:00pm. If you volunteered to donate an item (or your time), you will be receiving a reminder next week.

Fall is in the air! Please make sure that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather.

The next few months are going to be busy, busy, busy. Please be sure to read the newsletters and announcements that are sent home. A few things we have to look forward to: a field trip to the Gravel Pit and our “Fall Party” at the end of the month.

Thank you to everyone who has been able to volunteer in the classroom these past few weeks. Your help and dedication is greatly appreciated.

Homework Due 9/12

Homework was sent home with students on 9/11/08. Students are to conduct a name interview to find out more about where their name comes from. This interview is related to Chrysanthemum, a book that we read in class for our Kevin Henkes author study.

Also due on 9/12 is this week’s reading log.

Is your child reading at least 20 minutes each night? Beginning on September 9th, students will be required to read for at least 20 minutes every night. A reading log will be sent home with your child. The reading log allows him/her to record the book that was read, the duration of time, and if the book was discussed with a parent.
